Morning sessions will be open to 3rd - 6th grade, afternoons: 7th-12th. Cultures will be chosen to share through multiple disciplines including visual art, music, dance and creative writing! Guest artists will work with students, using a hands-on approach to art-making from specific traditions such as Bhangra dance from India, Turkish music, Mexican creative writing – magical realism, creation of a Tibetan sand mandala, Taiko drumming from Japan and good old American Blues. The goal is to create an interdisciplinary, multicultural energy that affirms our entire Dayton community. Participants in this class will be invited to take an active role (ambassadors, street performers, artist assistants etc.), in the Cityfolk Festival at the end of June!
